Jack David Godfrey, 86, a longtime resident of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
Born in Norwalk, Ohio, on December 4, 1938, to R.L. "Jack" Godfrey and Ellen Mary Brown, Jack moved with his family to Texas in 1955. He graduated from Laneri High School in 1957, and later that same year, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Swallow.
Together, Jack and Pat built a beautiful life, raising four children: Deborah Lynn, Jack David Jr., Laurie Anne, and Michael James. Jack continued in the family dry-cleaning business with Pat by his side and later expanded their entrepreneurial spirit into Mr. G's Mens Wear and the creation of a national dry-cleaning franchise, Comet 1 Hour Cleaners. Their business ventures not only provided for their family but helped others achieve success across the U.S. and Mexico. Jack and Pat considered this their ministry - empowering others was their calling.
Jack had an undeniable passion for his family, clothing, and cars. His joy came from time spent with loved ones and sharing experiences. Jack and Pat were married for 66 devoted years - raising a family, building businesses, and traveling the world together. They especially loved road trips. Their love for God, their family, and their community was the foundation of their life and legacy. They were known for spreading the message of "The Father's Love" wherever they went and showing generosity to all they encountered.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann; his parents, Ellen and Jack Godfrey; brothers, Jim and Ron Godfrey; sister, Mary Ellen Fink; nephew, Matthew Siver; grandsons, Joshua and Dylan Godfrey; and great-granddaughter, Clara Felton.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Godfrey, Jack Godfrey Jr., Laurie Godfrey Leonard (Steve), and Michael Godfrey; his grandchildren, Nick Serrano (Tatiana), Courtney Serrano Harrison (Dave), Alexandria Serrano Rasuk (Victor), Chaslyn Grace Pilarcik, Rachel Godfrey Bumpus (Kent), Meredith Godfrey Khonsari (Neema), Grace Godfrey, Lauren McReynolds Felton, Carly McReynolds, and Casey Godfrey; and 15 cherished great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jack's life was a testament to faith, love, and generosity. He leaves behind a powerful legacy and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
