Jack Alan Gray, Sr., 80, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Monday, June 30, 2025, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Old Valley Grove Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. John Walker officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Gray was born October 21, 1944, in Hahira, Georgia, to the late C.N. "Nelson" & Ruth Booker Gray. He was a 1962 graduate of Irwin County High School. He worked at Gray Peanuts, Inc. until 2004 and for the Georgia Department of Transportation from 2004 until 2015. He enjoyed going to the river, watching Clemson football, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going out to eat and traveling. He was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Hogan Gray of Irwin County; son and daughter-in-law, Alan & Tami Gray of Irwin County; grandchildren: Taylor & Judson George of Hahira and Jackson Gray of Irwin County; a great-grandson, Gray George; step-children: Leigh Ann Thomas & Seth of Irwinville, Patrick Hogan & Julie of Irwinville and Holly Wright & John of Valdosta; five step-grandchildren: Reilly Thomas, Kyle Hogan, Kelli Hogan, Noah Wright and Hogan Wright; and two sisters: his twin, Jill & Cliff Walker of Hartwell and Jeanie & Joe Benfield of Bogart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Gwen DeBerry Gray.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the care given Mr. Gray by Jessica and the staff of Traditions Hospice as well as his caregiver, Janice Lott.
The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to Ocilla Baptist Church, P O Box 101, Ocilla, GA 31774 or to Traditions Health Hospice, 126 South Access Road, Chula, GA 31733.
Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, is in charge of arrangements.
