Jack Frank Ratley, age 86, of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 9, 1938, Jack lived a life defined by devotion- to his country, his family, and his faith. A proud veteran of the United States military, he served with honor and humility. Following his military service, Jack pursued a distinguished career as a civil engineer for the State of Illinois, where he contributed to building and improving communities throughout the state.

A man of quiet strength and steady generosity, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Kay Ratley; his daughter, Paula Waters (Sam Waters); and his son, Jared Ratley (Shauna Ratley). He was a cherished grandfather to Brianna Markham (Julius Agbeadah), Makenna Markham, Eliza Markham, Ethan Ratley, and Reagan Ratley. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Ratley (Pam Ratley); and by many loving nieces and nephews, who were blessed by his warmth and example.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Nora Ratley, and his sisters, Shirley Brinkley and Cathy Hopkins.

Jack was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, worshiping faithfully alongside his wife. His life was rooted in faith and service, and his testimony of eternal families shaped the way he loved and cared for those around him. He especially treasured time spent with his family and found joy in simple pleasures-singing, listening to music, and cheering for his favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, Illinois. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery, visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until service time of 1:00 PM on Saturday.

Jack's legacy is one of unwavering integrity, compassionate service, and enduring love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

"But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.

He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened."

-Mosiah 16:8–9
