Odessa - Longtime resident of Odessa, Texas. Jack Loyd Thompson, 76, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Borger, Texas, to Kenneth Wayne Thompson Sr. and Vera Mae Hammett Thompson, Jack was a proud Christian man who lived his life with faith, love, and integrity. He attended Permian High School and went on to work various jobs before finding his calling at H&S Valve, where he dedicated 47 years of his life. Jack retired in 2017 as Vice President and deeply valued the brotherhood and sisterhood he found in his work family. Jack married young and became the proud father of two amazing children: Tammye Thompson Hayes of Tennessee and Rocky Dean Thompson of Florida. As a single father, he raised his children with the loving support of his dear sister, Cheryl Gardenhire, her husband Gordy Gardenhire, and their devoted parents. In 1974, Jack met the love of his life, Judy Thompson. Though they didn't realize it as the time, God had brought them together for a purpose. For over 38 years, they shared a life full of laughter, tears, unwavering love and faith. On June 24, 1997, they were married, and Jack lovingly embraced Judys son, Coby Pool, as his own. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Thompson; daughter, Tammye Hayes; son, Rocky Thompson; and stepson, Coby Pool; along with two grandchildren, Mason Hayes and Katon Dudley. He is also survived by his loving sister, Cheryl Gardenhire; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family; including his special Aunt Betty Snapp and cherished nephews Greg, Gary, and Jerrod Gardenhire and Nick Jackson; as well as Kathy and Bob Walters, Ann Hoggatt, Julie Stewart and the Louis Jackson Jr. family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Butch, his brother-in-law Gordy Gardenhire, Vicky Turner and Louis and Wanda Jackson. Jack has a heart bigger than gold. His infectious smile and joyful spirit lit up every room. He was lovingly known by many as Uncle Snack. Jacks favorite saying was, "I'm happy to be here," and he truly lived by that motto. He had a deep love for Harley Davidson motorcycles, football, baseball, golf, Nascar, fishing and his favorite singer of all time was Willie Nelson. One of his greatest joys was spending time at Oak Creek Lake, a place he fell in love with in 1972. It became a sanctuary where family turned into friends and friends became family. Jack and Judy made their dream come true when they retired on their special spot at Oak Creek, where they spent cherished days surrounded by those they loved. The family extended heartfelt thanks to Home Hospice for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Clydel Chapman officiating. Pallbearers will be Raphael Rangel, Shayne Hornbuckle, Tye Dawson, Justin Kirkham, JD Garrett, and Austin Weaver. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
