Jack Wharton Obituary

Master Craftsman Jack (John C.) Wharton planked his last plank, joined his last joint, and crafted his last cabinet as he went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Jack was a man of many trades and enjoyed using his talents to spread joy. If he wasn't in his shop woodworking, he could be found outside camping, metal detecting, or playing with his furry friends.
Jack was born to John ("Buddy") and Margaret ("Peggy") Wharton on December 31, 1944, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School and eventually moved to Canon City in 1984. Jack worked as an entrepreneur throughout his life. He had big dreams and worked hard to accomplish them. Jack was a dedicated worker, never met a stranger, and took pride in the work he did.
We all greatly miss his daily morning weather reports on Facebook, where many of his lifelong friends and family would gather-virtually-for coffee, conversation, and a dose of his familiar humor. These daily posts informed and humored us all. It was a small but meaningful connection we will hold dear in our hearts.
Jack leaves behind his three daughters: Deni (Bruce) Kidwell, Christy (Kendall) Kreiling, and Diana (Stephen) Schlegel. In addition to his daughters, Jack is survived by his grandchildren: Aaron (Nicole) Boekemeier, Mandy (Paul) Hughes, Jeff Kidwell, Amanda (Jason) Miller, Corey Gillespie, Casey (Racquel) Gillespie, Dominic (Shianne) White, Rhianon (Jordan) Dehart, and Mathias (Nicky) Ellis and 14 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins and friends.
In his final years, Jack was cared for by Nate and Jera White, whose dedication, compassion, and presence brought him comfort during that time.
Jack was welcomed into heaven by his father, mother, infant brother Donnie, and his grandparents.
