Jacqueline Rae Brown Pike was born in Nebraska City, NE, September 8, 1941. She entered into rest July 7, 2024 at the age of 82 years. She grew up in the little village of Union NE and spent most of her early years at the family home at the top of the hill with her parents Charles (Willy) Brown and Velma Ackley Brown and her Granny Vera Ackley.
At seventeen she dated and later married Thomas Pike. Their first daughter Tammy was born in Nebraska City and when she turned four Jackie and Tammy joined Tom where he was stationed in Germany. They stayed in Germany for a year then Tom was transferred stateside to El Paso TX where their second daughter Theresa was born. Once Tom was discharged from the army their little family returned to the Union area where they lived on a farm south of town. Neil was born one very, very cold winter at Nebraska City. Later the family moved to Iowa where Tom went to computer school and Jackie took care of the house and three little ones. This was a major challenge with Tom working two jobs to make ends meet but Jackie was up to the task and made it work. Once he graduated his first computer job took the family to Simi Valley California where they purchased their first home while Tom worked in LA. Jackie had a lot of stories about this time in their lives. Her favorite was the time Tom had car problems in downtown LA and she had to load up three kids and deal with the LA freeways. Not Fun!
The next move was to Reno NV where their youngest child Kevin was born. For several years moving was a way of life. Jackie always said that once the last box was unpacked it would be time to move again. (It actually got so she tried hard to leave a couple of boxes unpacked to delay the next move!) Over the years Tom would be transferred several times, crossing the United States. From Atlanta GA, to Cherry Hill NJ, back to Union for a while and then Denver CO. then eventually when Tom retired, he and Jackie were able to return to Union, buying the family homeplace and returning to their roots. Jackie said the song "I've been everywhere" pretty well summed it up! But there really is no place like home. Jackie enjoyed gardening, loved her flowers and puttering around in her yard, and planning and remodeling the old home place and supporting Tom with his small engine retirement business. She enjoyed her dogs, her kids and her grandkids. Jackie was the heart of the family and always there for them when she was needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Velma Brown, her husband Tom and his parents Elmer and Ruth Pike. She is survived by her children: Tammy Jeanneret and husband Allan, Terry Brammier, Neil Pike and wife Jodie, and Kevin Pike; Grandchildren: Aaron Murphy and his fiancé Sara Steele, Adam Jeanneret, Andrew Jeanneret, Colton Brammier and wife Riley, Jayden Brammier and significant other Liberty Donahoe, Andy Pike and fiancé Kara, Jake Pike, Elizabeth Pike, Samantha Pike, Joe Pike and fiancé Esther, and great grandchild Claire Brammier, and not to forget her special dog Jinxie, the cats Smokey and Scamp, other relatives and many friends.
