James Claude "Buddy" Blaylock Jr. age 79, of Sparta, TN, passed away on July 9, 2025, at Smith County Health and Rehabilitation in Carthage, TN.
Buddy was born on September 18, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Claude and Vernell Fish Blaylock.
Buddy served four years in the United States Air Force, after which he worked at Mallory as a Quality Control Supervisor.
Buddy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved the Lord. Buddy was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed attending basketball and football games.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Blaylock is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Michelle Blaylock Blanton, grandson Chase Davis, a brother Clarence L. Blaylock, and two sisters: Linda L. Blaylock, and Julia Ann Blaylock Parks.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include is wife, Dorothy Marie Parks Blaylock, sons Jackie Lee Blaylock and Jason Claude Blaylock. Grandchildren; Brttany Mott, Stephanie Mott, Tiffany Mott, Chelsey (Jared) Batson, Brianna (Kyle) Rusche, Brandon Blaylock, and one sister, Betty Sue Bray. Several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers include Jonathan Kirby, Danny Gene Kirby, Roger Simmons, Kyle Rusche, Jared Batson, and Brandon Blaylock.
Services for Mr. Blaylock will be on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 2pm in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The family will welcome visitors beginning at 11am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family requests no funeral sprays, but hanging baskets and plants that can be grown in Buddy's memory.
