James M. Branco, age 91, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 11, 1934, in St. Michael, Azores, he came to the United States in 1969 and had been a proud resident of Attleboro for the past 56 years.
James was the beloved husband of Theresa J. Branco (DaSilva), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. He was the son of the late Joseph Branco and Maria Branco (Medeiros).
A hardworking and dedicated man, James was employed for 18 years as a machine operator at Engelhard before retiring. He was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro, where he found strength and community throughout his life.
James leaves behind a large and loving family who were the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his son Manny Branco of Fall River; daughters Anna Mills and her husband Michael of Plainville, Filomena Carlson and her husband Christopher of North Attleboro, Lucy Branco Grzenda and her husband Scott of North Attleboro, and Sherry Porter of Attleboro, wife of the late Christopher Porter.
He was a cherished grandfather to Nicholas Mills, Ashley Nicol and her husband Ross (and their children Madelyn and Jackson), Ryan Branco and his wife Chelsey (and their children Regan and Anthony), Cassidy Carlson, Zachary Carlson, Dylon Grzenda, Kaleigh Grzenda, Amanda Porter, and Tyler Porter and his daughter Elaina.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 8:00AM to 9:30AM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street Attleboro, MA 02703. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM following the visitation in the St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, MA. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Attleboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James's memory may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 St. John's Place, Attleboro, MA 02703.
James will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep faith, and the love he poured into every member of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and generosity that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
