James Alan Collins "Jim", age 85 of Bennettsville, passed on to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home.
Jim was born April 27, 1940, in West Grove, Pennsylvania. He was a son of the late Joseph Cecil and Pauline Parsons Collins. Jim worked for many years as a television engineer. He worked for WOLO in Columbia, SC and AVCO International in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 1979, he returned home to run the family beef cattle farm. Jim remained on the farm until his health declined. Jim was also a member of Christ Church in Bennettsville.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Robert Alan Collins; brothers, Joe Collins and Stephen Collins.
Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda LaMotte Collins of the home; sons, Kevin Glenn Collins (Kristen) of Dillon, Bryan Chad Collins of Bennettsville, and Austin Alan Collins of Cheraw; sisters, Virginia Coxe of Sparta, NC and Kay Disher of Kernersville, NC; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church of Bennettsville. The family will receive friends just prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
Jim will be laid to rest on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Elk Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Sparta, NC.
