James Crowley Obituary

James William Crowley, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 7, 2025, at the age of 93.
Jim was born on June 15, 1932, to the late Elizabeth and George Crowley in Dorchester, MA and grew up in the close-knit Boston neighborhood where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and service. He attended Cathedral High School and after graduating served proudly in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return home, Jim met the love of his life, Maryann Blazewicz of Hull. They married in 1961, and together shared more than six decades of love, partnership and faith. Together, Jim and Maryann raised five children: James, Michael, John, Elizabeth and Matthew in Brockton, MA before moving to Cotuit, MA in 1988. Jim was deeply involved in each of their lives, coaching and sponsoring youth baseball and hockey teams and sharing his steady guidance and encouragement for all of their pursuits. Whether teaching defense on the ice or how to lay down a bunt, he instilled the values of teamwork, respect, and perseverance both on and off the field in each of his children.
Jim was the owner of Crowley Moving and Storage company in Brockton and worked for the Brockton School Department until his retirement in 1992. Post retirement, Jim was an avid sailor, softball player, and shellfisherman, but was often happiest in his own backyard, sitting by the pool with a book or crossword puzzle in hand. Jim was a devoted parishioner of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee, MA and his faith remained a cornerstone of his life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Maryann, his children Jim Crowley (Kim) of Eluthera, Bahamas, John Crowley (Christine Tartaglia) of Hyannis, MA, Elizabeth Crowley Soares (Vic Silveira) of Taunton, MA and Matthew Crowley (Erin), of Charlestown, MA; his cherished grandchildren Christina, Amy, Emma, Olivia, Paige and Connor Crowley, and Hannah and Nolan Soares, and his favorite great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Soares. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Crowley and his granddaughter Samantha Crowley.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday July 14th, at 11:30am at Christ the King Parish, 3 Job's Fishing Rd, Mashpee, MA 02649. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to Christ the King Parish.
