Dansville- James Deforrest Fox I, age 81 passed away on June 16, 2025, at Noyes Memorial Hospital following an illness.
He was born in Dansville on June 14, 1944, a Son of the late Norbert and Eloise (Conner) Fox. He was married to the former Sheila (Polmateer) Fox who predeceased him in 2022. He was also predeceased by his brother William (Betty) Fox.
Jim was a graduate of Dansville Central School District class of 1961. Following graduation Jim enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. He served just shy of 3 years and earned the expert Marksman Badge. Following his enlistment he worked as a book binder, first at Dansville Press and ending his career in Rochester at Case Hoyte. He was a member of the James H. Jackson Hose Company in Dansville and was active in the Oktoberfest. He was a member of both the American Legion Post #87 Daniel Goho, and the VFW 6780 Frank J Casbolt Memorial Post. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and softball.
Jim is survived by his children, Teresa (Dennis) Gilbert, James (Tamara) Fox II, Pete (Laurali) Fox, grandchildren, Chris (Jenn), Kirsten, Nicholas (Hannah), Michaela (Ethan), Tayler, Emily (Rob), Jasmyn, Arianna, 6 great-grandchildren, a sister, Martha (Roger) George, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Friday June 20th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville Ny 14437. Private Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery Dansville. Online memories may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
