It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Edward Hall, affectionately known as Eddie, at the age of 86 on July 10, 2025. Eddie was a remarkable individual, born in Statesboro, GA, to his loving parents, Bertie Mae and Daniel Clayton Hall. He was the big brother to his little sister, Dorothy Christine, and he cherished their bond throughout his life.
Eddie was a proud graduate of the Bradley Central High School Class of 1958. His career was a colorful journey: he worked as a sheriff's deputy, contractor, draftsman, and even built swimming pools before finding his calling in trucking. Over his impressive 50+ year career, he logged over 5,000,000 miles, eventually starting his own company, Eddie Hall Express, in 2001, which he ran until selling it in 2021 to get back on the road. His dedication to the trucking industry earned him the respect of his peers and made him a beloved figure among friends and family.
A devoted family man, Eddie was an active Shriner and FreeMason, always giving back to his community. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Kay Hall, as well as his daughters: Sonya Jones (and husband Larry), Cathy Felder (and husband John), and Jamie Hemba. He also loved his stepdaughter Sherry Stokes (and husband Jeff) and his bonus children, Terri Koziol (and husband David), Tiffany Heron (and husband Robert), and Tracey Moore (and husband Yvonne). Eddie was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear sister, Dot Martin, and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Bertie and Daniel Hall and brother in law Carlton Martin.
Eddie will be honored with a funeral service on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in the Ridge Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2412 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37312. The visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by the service with special words shared by Reverend Justin Dunn, his grandson, and Masonic Brother Brian Wright, his great-nephew.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Eddie's memory to make contributions to St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
Eddie's kindness, humor, and love for his family and friends will forever be remembered. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
