James Elwood Hallmark, 69, of Peel, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 9, 1955, in Clinton, Iowa, to Hershel Elwood and Alta May Delk Hallmark. James was a proud United States Army veteran and a hardworking man who wore many hats throughout his life. He worked as a tire salesman and a mechanic, and he was also a talented cabinet builder until his health declined.
James had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time in the yard. He liked working with his hands and never shied away from a project. He also appreciated the simple pleasures in life, like sharing a good cold beer with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas Hallmark; and a brother, Johnny Hallmark.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Laverne "Tootie" Hallmark of Peel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clint and Cecilia Hallmark of Peel and Craig and Carolyn Hallmark of Harrison; three grandchildren, Ashten Coleman of Yellville, Forrest Hallmark of Omaha, and Laci Cackley of Yellville; seven great-grandchildren, Luna Coleman, Brantley, Tucker, and Ryker Cackley, and Marcie, Arlo, and Amara Gardea; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and John Adams of St. Joe.
The family will host a memorial service at their home at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
