James Harris Obituary

Harris, James "Jim" - of Clio, age 79, passed away peacefully Friday June 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. An inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery with full military honors on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 10AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Literacy Center in Lapeer - P.O Box 485 Lapeer, MI 48446.
Born on May 25, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, Jim lived a life rich with purpose and dedication to both his family and his country. Jim graduated with a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan Flint. On May 24, 1969, he married Sandra Rhoads, and together they built a loving home in Clio, Michigan. A proud veteran, Jim enlisted in the Army on June 12, 1964, and served honorably in the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5). After his military service, he devoted many years to protecting his community as a police officer with the Flint Police Department, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the residents he served. Jim was a faithful member of St. Charles and Helena Catholic Church, where he found his faith. In his spare time, he cherished the great outdoors and loved spending precious moments with his family, relishing in the beauty of nature and the warmth of togetherness.More than anything he loved his family.
Surviving are: Wife, Sandra Harris; Daughters: Jennifer (Daniel) Murphy and Meredith Harris; Grandchildren: Allison Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Lauryn Donahue, and Kendal Donahue; Siblings: Diane Harris, Lyle Harris, Ellen Newman, Gail Siebold, Janice Minor; Many good friends. He is preceded in passing by his parents, and his brother, Ronald Harris.
