James Raymond Howard, 88, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 24, 2025, at his home in Lipan, Texas.
Visitation for James will be held from 5 until 7 P.M., on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Lipan. Funeral services celebrating James' life will be held at 10 A.M, on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan.
James was born on October 23, 1936, in Natty Flat, Texas to the late Robert "Terry" and Emma "Mae" Howard. On July 6, 1957, James married the love of his life, Sandra Ives and together they had two children, Debbie and Steve. James enjoyed watching Lipan basketball teams. He was person who could 'fix, draw, or paint anything.' A devout Christian, James was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Lipan. He was a founding lifetime member of the Lipan Volunteer Fire Department. Most of all, James will be remembered as a man of integrity and for his love and devotion to his family. He will forever be missed.
James is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Debbie and husband Ted Williams and Steve and wife Sandy Howard; grandchildren, Thad and wife Staci Williams and Drew and wife Carrie Howard; great-grandsons, Carter and Ryder Howard; by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and by numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer, Herman and Horace Howard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in James' memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lipan.
