Evelyn Leutricia Marsh Clark, 80, a beloved mother, teacher, and mentor to many, passed away on October 29, 2025 at her home. Born on February 11, 1945 in Trenton, Tennessee, Evelyn's gift for guidance and inspiration touched the lives of her children, students, and countless others seeking spiritual and educational direction.
After graduating with honors from Tennessee State University, she traveled the world with her husband, Master Sergeant Billy J. Clark Sr. (USAF) and family. Evelyn taught in Germany, Japan, and Hawaii before settling in Greensboro with their three children. Evelyn seamlessly blended her roles as an academic mentor and a nurturing parent affectionately earning the nickname "Mama Clark" or simply "Mommy". She established the first Cooperative Occupational Education at James B. Dudley High School and taught Panthers for over 25 years before ending her teacher career at North Carolina A&T. At home, Evelyn added "Grandma" to her list of nicknames and created an environment of open communication and unconditional love and support, empowering her family and friends to pursue their dreams while always being there to offer wisdom, encouragement, and Christian spiritual advice as a faithful, devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: James and Carrie Marsh, her brothers: James Jr. and Melvin, her husband, Billy Sr. and her children: Billy Jr. (Stephanie) and Carissa. Evelyn is survived by her son: Victor (Bridgette), her grandchildren: Ambraya, Keemon, Maurice, Evonne, Shavonne, and Jerron, and her great- grandchildren: Jordyn, Delano, Malaysia, NyLaah, and Brianca as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on November 15, 2025 from 2-4 PM in the Tannenbaum/Sternberger Room of the Greensboro Central Public Library at 219 N. Church Street,
Greensboro, NC 27401. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to go in Evelyn's honor to a local food bank.
