It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James David Maddox (Stinger), age 66, of Kingston, GA. who departed this life on July 22, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on March 22, 1959, David was a true outdoorsman through and through. From the quiet thrill of casting a line at dawn to the crisp stillness of hunting deer at daybreak, he found his peace in the natural world. Whether he was on the river or walking through thick woods, David felt most at home with the wind in his face, the earth beneath his boots, and the sky stretched wide above him. He passed on his love for fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors to everyone fortunate enough to know him-teaching patience, respect for nature, and the value of time spent outside, away from life's noise. His stories were as rich as the woods he walked, and his laughter carried like a loon's call across still water. More than anything, David was a loyal friend, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a man who lived with quiet strength and an open heart. He lived simply, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of honesty, humility, and grit. He is survived by his 1 sister Missy and Danny Maddox, 2 bothers Jerry and April Maddox, Eddie and Yvonne Maddox, the mother of his children Kathy Bradshaw, 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Brooke and Matt Mullins, Kristin and Chad Womack, and Brittany Maddox, he also proceeded by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren including one special great grandchild, Eric Lamb who loved his Papa unconditionally. They will always carry his memory wherever the trail leads, or the water runs. David was preceded in death by his parents, William Eugene Maddox and Thelma O. Morgan Maddox and 2 brothers, John Maddox and Mike Maddox. He's gone to the woods in heaven now, where the rivers run clear and the game is always near. May he always rest in peace. "There is no greater solitude than that of the big woods." - Aldo Leopold Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Rick Neese and Jerry Branton officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00PM until time of the service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston. Pallbearers include Matt Mullins, Chad Womack, Danny Franklin, Tristan Mullins, Landon Silvers, and Wade Parker. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home. R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of the funeral arrangements for James David Maddox.
