James Raymond "Jim" Mangold, 71, of Coggon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on October 15, 1953, in Manchester, the son of James, Sr. and Vanita (Beaman) Mangold. Jim was raised and educated in Manchester. He served his country in the United States Army.

On June 2, 1973, Jim was united in marriage to Ruth Sperfslage at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monti. Two children, Jason and Andrea, were born to this union. Jim worked at various jobs throughout his life including driving semi grain trucks for Sejkora Farms. He retired from CRST.

Jim lived his life on his own terms. He was a great, entertaining storyteller and made the best omelets. Jim loved riding his Harley, airing his brain out, and had a huge collection of motorcycle models / toys in his basement. He treasured being a grandfather and cherished spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth Mangold of Coggon; his daughter, Andrea (Chris) Willey of Manchester; three grandchildren, Isabelle Willey, Devann Mangold, and Jason "J.J." (Melissa Pierce) Mangold; two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Lehlani; sister, Linda (Doug) Keenan of Cedar Rapids; half-brother, Don (Karen) Sill of Lake Rathbun; sister-in-law, Judy Sill of Melrose; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jason Mangold; grandson, Wyatt Willey; parents, James, Sr. and Vanita Mangold; parents-in-law, Richard and Ethel Sperfslage; sister, Dedra (David) Long; two half-brothers, Rusty Sill and Jerry (Joann) Sill; and one nephew, Tony Sill.
