MONTEREY, VA James "Miller" Turner, III, 73, of Monterey, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his home. He was born May 10, 1941 in Nashville, TN a son of the late James Betty and Mary Lloyd (Wilkerson) Turner. He was brought up in the Presbyterian Church on the West end of Nashville, TN. Mr. Turner had worked as a carrier for the United State Postal Service. He enjoyed helping people anonymously, was a member of the National Rifle Association and a true patriot. He is survived by his wife, Polly M. Turner, whom he married October 21, 1986; daughter, Mary Turner of Middleburg; brother, Keeling G. Turner of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Mary Erica Aquadro, Teresa Kory Garvis, John Michael Garvis and James David Garvis and Melissa Nicole Turner-Kruz; two nieces, Vadis L. Turner and Ashley M. Turner and two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Dunbar Moomaw of Dahlgren, and Randy Lee Moomaw of Ashland, TN. He was predeceased by his son, James Clark Turner. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 267, Monterey, VA or Highland County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, VA or Word of Faith Community Outreach, P.O. Box 276, Monterey, VA 24465.
