James Elbert Outlaw, 94, United States Army Veteran of Bladenboro, NC passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born in Duplin County, the son of the late James Leon Outlaw and Kate Carter Outlaw. He was preceded also by his dear wife, Beverly R. Outlaw, son Charles Outlaw, and siblings, Earl Ray Outlaw, Ila Mae Outlaw Dove and Pauline Outlaw Peterson.
James is survived by two daughters, Norma Outlaw Deaver (Jacky) and Diane Outlaw Bates, both of Bladenboro, brother J.L. Outlaw of Fayetteville, three sisters, Annie Merle Outlaw Stevens of Grays Creek, Fay Outlaw and Grey Outlaw Woodburn, both of Elizabethtown, five grandchildren Heather Outlaw, Timmy Outlaw, Matthew Outlaw, Jessica I. Taylor (J.T.), and Travis Deaver (Erin), 11 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
James was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and watching NASCAR racing. He loved to eat fish or have a meal at Cracker Barrel. Whenever James was in the room, he always had something to say to brighten your day. His comical demeanor always kept everyone in stitches. He will always be remembered for the love and joy he brought to so many lives.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
