James Alford Pauley
1938 - 2025
James Alford Pauley, age 87 of Tomball, TX passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1938 in Alum Creek, WV, the son of the late Thelma and Garnet "Buck" Pauley. James grew up in a large family and moved to Cleveland, OH in his late teens, beginning a forty-four-year career at Alcoa. He was the beloved husband of the late June (Baisden); dear father of the late Jim and Tim (Nicole); loving grandfather to Tyler, Mitchell and Dylan; preceded in death by brothers: Wilson, John, Bernard and sisters: Susie, Jo Ann and Betty. In the fall of 1969, June and James put down roots in North Royalton, OH away from the big city, to raise their family.
James also had plans for his newfound acreage. His passion for gardening would produce fifty-four years of abundant gardens. In recent years there were less vegetables and more flowers, but always grown with the care and respect that he showed others. While failing health necessitated a move to Houston, TX in the fall of 2024, James thrived in his new setting, even tending to a few of his cherished tomato plants on the patio. Friends will be received Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5-8 PM at Babitt Busch Funeral Home (9350 Ridge Rd. North Royalton, OH 44133). Visitation, memorial service and burial will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025 beginning at 1:00 PM at Curry Funeral Home (2097 Childress Rd. Alum Creek, WV 25003). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in James or June Pauley's name to: American Parkinson Disease Association (P.O. Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306 or Email: [email protected]).
