James Ruffin Obituary

James T. Ruffin, known to many as "Dick", passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025 at Civita Care at Long Ridge. He was born on January 11, 1956 in Williamston, North Carolina to George B. Ruffin and Vera Clemons Ruffin. He will be remembered for his culinary talents and dedication to sharing delicious meals with many and lending a helping hand as needed. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Dick's memory will be cherished by his daughter; Tequila Williams and husband Tyrone, his son; Lamont Watts, five grandchildren; Brittany Watts, Lamont Watts, Jr., Marquis Craig, Samara Williams and Sakyra Williams, two great grandchildren; Mason Watts and Leilani Watts, one brother; Dallas Ruffin and wife Tawana, five sisters; Joyce Ruffin Gumbus, Ruth Ruffin Gainer, Betrantiz Ruffin Bunch and LaSandra Ruffin Holder and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Vera Clemons Ruffin, two sons; Shawn Watts and James Ruffin, Jr., nine brothers; Willie Ruffin, Jessie Ruffin, Linwood Ruffin, Larry Ruffin, Pearlie Ruffin, Don Ruffin, Carl Ruffin, Marvin Ruffin and George Ruffin, Jr. and his sister; Patricia Ann Ruffin Isham. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Wilson Memorial COGIC, 164 Richmond Hill Ave., Stamford, CT., Bishop Charles H. Brewer, III officiant and Bishop Alan B. Graves, eulogist. Interment will be private.
