James R. Selig, age 73, of Brookfield. Beloved husband of 54 years to Mary Ann Selig, nee Herron; loving father of Jamie (Keith) Klempner and Kevin (Stephanie) Selig; devoted grandfather of Paul (Erin) Moorehouse, Abby Moorehouse, Cassidy Selig, Taylor Selig and Alex Selig; brother of Richard (Pam) Elrod, Fran (Eugene) Herron, Randall Selig; longtime family friend and ex-son-in law Tom Moorehouse; uncle and great uncle of many.

James spent his early years growing up in Texas moving to Illinois and graduating from Lyons Township High School in 1971. He spent 31 years working for General Motors in which time he was married, had 2 children and 5 grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, model trains and gardening. Jim's family would like for everyone to know of his devotion and care he had for his family right up until his last moments. They are ever grateful for the time he spent with them when he supported his children and grandchildren in every competition and performance he could.

Visitation, Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7 P.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513. A time of sharing and remembrance will be held at 6 P.M.

Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mary Ann and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of James.
There is Love that will live forever and there are memories that will shine through the sorrow. May the wonderful memories of James Love be with you and comfort you at this time. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Jim. Darrell bonded with him over fishing the last time he and Mary Ann were in Bristol. He had a great personality. Our prayers are with the family. May the Holy Spirit bring comfort and peace.
