Heaven gained a Cowboys fan!
James Timothy Wilkins fought valiantly until the end. Departing this earth on March 21, 2025.
He was beloved by a host of family, friends, and neighbors.
To some he was Kemp, to others Smooth, to one he was Daddy and to hers, he was PopPop.
A magnetic personality, who loved fiercely and was known for his fiery temper, zeal and zest for life, James exemplified the good to be found in others. The gift of a natural builder, he was able to create, build, and fix anything he put his mind to. We will forever be proud of every accomplishment that he made.
Dear friend, dear father, dear preacher, and loved one. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.
In his final days, he brought together those who loved him and will remain the centerpiece of love and connection across families.
Predeceased by his mother and father, James has joyfully reunited in heaven with three of his four sisters, Martha Lawrence, Maggie Wilkins, and Blanche Edwards who passed before him. He leaves behind his sister Fellcia Dianne (Wilkins) Boddie, his former wife, Francine Wilkins, mother of his daughter Daina (Andre), grandchildren Sarah-Aubrey, Anderson, and Jonas, his best friend Yvette Washington, Yvette’s daughters, Pamela Holley, Shardae Holley and Khadijah Agbere. James was also deeply loved and will remain profoundly cherished by his large and devoted family in Rocky Mount, NC which includes his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5.”
