Jane Ann Layne, 87, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 17, 2025.
Jane Ann Layne graced this world on November 18, 1937, at home in Argos Indiana, to her loving parents Owen and Dollie (Steinbarger) Singrey.
She graduated from Bourbon High School in 1955. She moved to Warsaw in 1961.
Her greatest accomplishment was raising her seven children. She had a profound love for them and shared in making many wonderful memories. Some of her favorite times were spent gardening and baking. A memory that all the children and grandchildren share is that she crocheted an afghan as a gift when they were born and when they graduated.
On August 27, 2005, Jane found an abiding love when she married Roger Layne.
She was quite notably the youngest member of “The Dancing Grannies”. She also enjoyed many years of being a bus aid for the special needs children. She attended Warsaw Community Church and Plymouth Community Church at varying times throughout her lifetime.
Jane's life varied over the years with each taking on different roles. Her professional path led her to positions at Big Boy Manufacturing and Dalite Screen, where she left behind a legacy of dedication and hard work. During her time at Dalite, she played softball with her daughters. She was the proud owner of Cake Creations and More for 16 years, bringing joy and sweetness into the lives of countless customers with her delicious creations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Debra Shaffer, and son Clay Layne, a grandson Nicholas Williamson, and granddaughter Aime. This loss weighed heavily on her heart, yet Jane faced each day with grace.
She is survived by her loving husband Roger Layne, daughters; Pam Dotson, Birdie Snoke, Penny (Tom) Rose, and Shelly Randall; her two sons, Robert LaFollette II and Shane (Lori) LaFollette, her son-in-law Steve (Debra-passed 2016) Shaffer, and her sister Betty Nifong. Jane’s love for them was a testament to her nurturing spirit. Her very large family also includes 34 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Jane Ann Layne will be remembered not only for her accomplishments, but also for her creativity and family devotion.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with service following with Pastor Larry Burkhart officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery
