Jane P. Mowrey, 83, of Ludlow, VT, passed away on July 3rd at the Gill Odd Fellows Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Jane was born in Montpelier, VT to Nelson and Marie (Dupuis) Pollard and is survived by her husband of 36 years Charles E. Mowrey Jr, stepdaughter Christine Hrotic, stepson-in-law Steven Hrotic, grandson Dmitri Hrotic, and siblings Sally LaBounty and Steven Pollard. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers John and David Pollard.
Jane grew up in Montpelier and also lived in Rutland, where she worked for many years at Central Vermont Public Service. She moved to Ludlow after meeting her husband Charlie and they spent many happy years together in their log cabin in the woods. Jane was a kindhearted person who loved birds and animals, flowers and gardening, all the New England sports teams, reading the newspaper, a good cup of coffee and being outside with Charlie and their dogs. Jane also loved music and singing and was a member of the Rutland choral group, the Peppermint Pipers, for many years. Jane and Charlie enjoyed fly fishing and made numerous trips to British Columbia, Canada to fish with Jane's sister Sally and her brother-in-law Albie.
A private service was held at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, VT. Donations in Jane's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Springfield Humane Society.
