After graduating from Centerville High School, Centerville Iowa, she attended North Central Bible College, Minneapolis, MN for one year, then Centerville Community College, Iowa, and Truman State University, Kirksville, MO, graduating with a master's degree in education. She taught elementary grades in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
Janet "Jan" was always active in her relationship with Jesus Christ and served Him in many different capacities, specially as a prayer warrior.
Harley J Kennedy captured her heart, and they married on June 14, 1969. They were happily married for 53 years raising his daughter and son, as her own. She supported his ministry as a Pastor in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, brother Melvin "Bill" and her sisters Lucille "Pat" Williams, Martha Breidegan, Shirley Lundegreen , Josephine Salthe, Berniece Snyder, Paulina "Petie" DiBella, nephew Bruce Priest and niece Naomi Peterson. She is survived by her sisters, Roselie (Wilfred) Priest, Annetta Baugh, and Wanita Printy-Zika, plus her children Patricia (Charles) Edgin and Wayne (Theresa) Kennedy; grandchildren Wesley (Marie) Kennedy, Shekinah (Luke) King, Caleb Kennedy and Elise (Eric) Jorneby; six great grandchildren plus several nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
Jan was a generous woman who faithfully gave to ministries all through her life. In honor of her memory and in lieu of flowers, all donations will be made by the family to buy sewing machines for the Mission in India.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Abundant Life Christian Center, 322 Level St, Dodgeville, WI 53533, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 7 PM. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm. Interment will be at Brushy Cemetery, IA on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
