Janet Paulk Lents, 91, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation in Florence, Alabama.
Born Tuesday, November 14, 1933, in Crockett County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Grady Lee Paulk and the late Lura Mae Dildine Paulk.
Janet dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her husband, Wymon, and their four children. Her nurturing spirit and steadfast presence were the heart of her family.
She was a woman of many talents. She was a gifted cook whose meals brought comfort and togetherness to all who gathered at her table. A skilled seamstress and gardener, she took great pride in the work of her hands, whether it was stitching clothes with care or tending to her flowers and plants with patience and joy.
But above all, Janet's greatest joy came from her role as a mother and grandmother. She poured her heart into raising her children and later doted on her grandchildren with the same love, guidance, and gentle strength. Her home was always open, her arms always welcoming, and her love unconditional. Her life was an example of selflessness, devotion and grace.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lents will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Lebanon Cemetery located at 6034 Chestnut Bluff near Friendship, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Austin Johnson. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Rickey Lynn Lents, M.D. (Margaret) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Russell Stefan Lents, M.D. (Robyn) of Jackson, Tennessee and William Wymon Lents, II DDS of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Robin Elizabeth Lents, DDS (Robert Embry) of Florence, Alabama; nine grandchildren, James Clarence Lents, Walter Riley Lents, Jefferson Paulk Lents, Robert Stefan Lents, Austin Grady Lents, Ella Olivia Embry, William Taylor Embry, Lila Lents Embry and Mitchell McFarland and four great-grandchildren, Ethan Thomas Lents, Charles Robert Lents, Ada Jane Lents and Rowan Wyatt Lents
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of sixty-eight years, William Wyoming Lents, Sr. DDS; three brothers, Frank Paulk, Eldridge Paulk and Darrell Paulk and five sisters, Hazel Turner, Dorothy Cullison, Joan Grisby, Rachel Reinert and Theo Ward.
