Janet Sue Wayman, age 82 of Odin, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois.
Janet was born on December 15, 1942, in rural Benton, Illinois, the daughter of Aden and Betty (Weir) Silkwood. She married Donald Kenneth Wayman on August 18, 1962, in Sandoval, Illinois and together they shared 62 Year united in marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Wayman of Odin; sons, Stephen Wayman of Platte City, Missouri, and David Wayman of Kirkland, Washington; sister, Mary Montague and husband David of Missoula, Montana; brother, Harold Silkwood and wife Bev of Billings, Montana; and sister in-law and husband, Jane and Gary Henning of Pittsburgh, Illinois.
Janet dedicated several years to her work as a secretary in the transportation industry before later working at McDonald's in Salem. A devoted member of Salem First Baptist Church, she lived out her faith with quiet dignity. She loved spending time in her flower garden and took special joy in feeding and watching the birds that visited her yard. Janet was also deeply involved in her community-she volunteered with 4-H and served as a Pink Lady with the Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary. In her younger years, she was proudly crowned Queen of the Sandoval Centennial.
Funeral services for Janet Sue Wayman will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Dr. Andy DeWitt officiating. There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem First Baptist church and will be received at the funeral home. Online condolences and memories can me left at www.CrouseFH.com.
