Janice Ruth Dorsch, 84, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025. She was born on January 18, 1941, in Hooker, Oklahoma, to Otis and Vesta Hampsten.
Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Dorsch; her parents; and her sister Donita Paulk. She is survived by her children Doug Dorsch and his wife Terry, and Brent Dorsch and his wife Linda. Janice was a proud grandmother to Stephanie Parr and her husband Jon, and Jamie Cruts and her husband Tanner, and a loving great-grandmother to Stevie, Grayson, Parker, Hallie, Benson, and Ryan. She also held a special place in her heart for step-grandchild Adrian Pappan and her partner Cassi Doolittle. Janice is also survived by her sisters Sharon Houseman, Kathleen Rutledge and her husband David, and Carolyn Wischoff and her husband Steve.
Janice worked faithfully as a church secretary and dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She had a passion for reading and studying the Bible, teaching children's Sunday school and ladies' Bible classes, and participating in church functions. Her deep faith guided her throughout her life and was evident in her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion.
Together with Jack, Janice enjoyed traveling-visiting Hawaii, Alaska, and many places across the U.S. on Village Tour bus trips. One of their most treasured journeys was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Costa Rica. Yet, some of their fondest memories were made closer to home, spending cherished time with family at their cabin in Cuchara, Colorado.
Janice's greatest joys were her faith, her family, and the time spent with those she loved most.
A service to celebrate Janice's life will be held at Buchanan Funeral Service of Oklahoma City. In light of the current heat wave, the family warmly encourages attendees to dress comfortably - no suits or ties required.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cherokee Hills Church of Christ. Please address the envelope accordingly and note that the funds are for missions.
