Janice Barbara Reckinger Obituary

1935 to July 15, 2025

To all who knew Janice, she passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 89.

Her childhood began in Michigan where she was one of three siblings. Janice was a registered

nurse and spent over 35 years in this occupation – sharing her caring heart and bright mind in

support of countless patients. She married her late husband Gerald and moved to Southern

California in the late 60's. They were a devoted couple, married over 55 years and together

provided a solid testimony of love and commitment.

We will remember her as a loving mother, dedicated to her children's upbringing. The

grandchildren (14) and great grandchildren (6) held a special place in her heart. She knew every

important detail about each one and never missed sending a birthday card with a carefully

selected message.

Janice was tremendously kind and good natured, always concerned about others more than

herself. She laughed easily and embraced life. Janice had boundless energy and even in her later

years she was tough to keep up with. She absolutely loved throwing a party, including all the

meal preparations and carefully selected table arrangements. Her greatest joy was seeing the

family together and keeping us all well fed – which was her unique expression of love.

She was passionate about so many things. She truly embraced life. Her favorite past times

included catching the latest movie releases, shopping, reading and more reading, traveling,

sharing meals with others and eating out, bridge, board games, cooking/baking, rooting for the

Lakers and always serving others.

Janice is survived by her children Nancy, Tim, Mary Jo, Robert and Chrissy.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 10:00am at Corpus Christi

Catholic Church located at 27231 Aliso Viejo Parkway, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656.
