Janice L. Weatherly, a cherished matriarch whose vibrant spirit illuminated the lives of many, passed away on July 24, 2025, at the OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota, Illinois. Born on January 12, 1935, in Blue Island, Illinois, Janice lived a life rich in love, creativity, and unyielding devotion to her family.

In the summer of 1958, Janice embarked on a remarkable journey of love and partnership when she married Howard E. Weatherly on July 12 in Fort Worth, Texas. Together, they nurtured a family that would grow to be a testament to their enduring legacy. Janice was the beloved mother of daughters Brenda Armstrong, Peggy Parkins and Deborah Smith and took immense pride in her grandchildren Angie, Charlie, Charly, Brian, Christopher, Janice, Justin, Crystal, William, Matt. These grandkids were complemented by the joys brought forth by her great-grandchildren Brandon, Levi, Austin, Annstyn, Daniel, Dallas, Star, Nathan, Camron, Katherine, Kaiden, Liam, Skyler, Paige, Lexie, Peyton, McKenzie, Tyler, Baeigh, Hadley, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Mato, Jayce, Walker, Oaklynn, Levi, Aliana, and Ainsley. Her familial tapestry was also woven with the love of her sister, Kathy Williams. And a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Throughout her life, Janice endeavored to cultivate connections within her community, exemplified by her active involvement with her children's school as the president of the Parent-Teacher Organization. Her culinary talents were showcased when she co-owned The Shed Café in Edom, Texas, where her remarkable salsa even captured the attention of President Bush's secretary—a delightful confirmation of her zest for life and the passions she pursued.

Janice found joy in a variety of hobbies: she was an enthusiastic painter of portraits, a lover of arts and crafts, and a spirited player of Dice (10,000). She cherished the simple pleasures of dancing, canning, and baking, and found great delight in being apart of farmers' markets, where her love for plants and fresh produce blossomed. These pastimes brought her fulfillment and allowed her to express her creative nature.

Though she is mourned by her family and friends, Janice's legacy radiates through the hearts she touched, the laughter she shared, and the love she imparted. With her parents, husband Howard, daughter Brenda Armstrong, grandson Rob Swonkie, and ten siblings now departed, she leaves behind a profound absence woven with a wealth of beautiful memories.
