Jason Dwane Brookshire of White Lake, Michigan passed away tragically on July 5, 2025 doing what he loved - spending the holiday weekend out on the lake with family and friends. He was born on March 18, 1976, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to James and Veronica (nee Rauh) Brookshire.
Jason had the biggest heart and freely shared his life and love with all his family and friends. He was not afraid to openly express his feelings of how much he loved you. These traits began early on for Jason. When he was a young boy, he was always there helping the new kids in school. He was always willing to help anyone without any hesitation and made friends with everyone he came across, and often, there was an instant bond. He enjoyed small talk, and could strike up a conversation with anyone, and easily become friends with strangers. He was one of a kind with the biggest personality that would capture the whole room. But Jason knew how to fight too, he fought hard, but he loved harder, and it's not far-fetched to say those two things could happen all in one interaction. He was a protector of those he loved. He was a great provider for his family. He always planned hunting trips and fishing trips, white water rafting, off-roading trips and gatherings at his cabin for the boat races. He especially treasured his time spent with his big brother Dewey, from riding motorcycles when they were kids, to chasing chic's as they got older, and the numerous hunting and fishing trips they took. He was a big brother to Josh and Jennifer and loved and protected them from anything. All the siblings looked up to Jason, even his older brother Dewey. He loved his cocktails, was creative in the kitchen, affectionate, patriotic and charismatic. Jason played hard, but he also worked hard. His passion and dedication to the construction industry with his strong skill set paved the way for his role as a superintendent. He took great pride in his work, dedicating nearly 25+ years to the profession. For the past five years, he had been serving as a superintendent at AUCH Construction.
Above all else, he fiercely loved his daughter Ava who was the center of his universe. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching her grow up and be there every step of the way. He would do anything for her. Ava said about her dear dad, "My father always loved talking and meeting new people and he loved with a huge heart!" One of her favorite memories of her dad is when he would sing in the car, and she would be laughing and singing as loudly as she could. She would give anything to hear him sing, even just one more time. The love he had for his family and his friends (who really were part of his family) was immense. In addition to the close relationship he had with his siblings Dewey, Josh, and Jennifer, he was extremely close with his parents Jim and Veronica, and they had so many wonderful times together. They both taught him about the value and importance of family, and they built a great foundation of love for Jason and their entire family. He loved being an uncle and great-uncle to his nieces and nephew Kaid, Bella, and Lillia and their children Kinlee, Blakely, Westlyn and Crew. Jason had a one-of-a-kind relationship with his life-long best friend Tyson, and they would always introduce each other as their brother from another mother. Tyson said nobody on this earth knows as much about him as Jason and vice versa. They had an unbreakable bond. Jason loved hard, especially his partner and soulmate Tamara. He cherished her deeply, and the adventures they shared were among their most treasured memories. Over their seven years together, they created a life filled with love, laughter, and a strong sense of family. They welcomed each other's families with open hearts, and he loved her daughter, Mackenzie, as if she were his own, and loved her deeply. He loved her parents, Denny and Linda. He even loved their little dog Ginger, who he lovingly put up with every day.
Jason was truly loved by us all and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The countless fun memories of Jason will live on in our hearts forever. We are heartbroken beyond words, yet so grateful to God for the gift of Jason's love, his light, and the times we shared. We will never be the same, but we will carry him with us, always. His spirit will live on in all of us who loved him. He was unforgettable and we will keep his memory alive until we meet again.
Jason was a proud and devoted father to Ava Brookshire. Loving partner/soulmate of Tamara O'Neil for seven wonderful years. Cherished son of Jim and Veronica Brookshire. Best brother of Dewey (Amy) Brookshire, Josh (Yvonne) Brookshire, and Jennifer (Fintan) Mc Kiernan. Dearest uncle of Kaid (Whitney) Brookshire, Bella (Jake) Novotny, and Lillia (Jacob) Robinson. Dear great-uncle of Kinlee & Blakely Brookshire and Westlyn & Crew Novotny. Jason is also survived by Tamara's daughter, Mackenzie O'Neil, Tamara's parents Denny and Linda Paganini, Ava's mother Stephanie Kramkowski, his life-long friend Tyson (Amy) Reilly and their children, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be profoundly missed.
Per Jason's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is being planned, and the details will be forthcoming.
