Jaylani Xavier Cole was born on January 5, 2005, in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Leahmarie Cole and Thomas Woods. He was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, LaShone Patterson.
A proud graduate of Boston Public Schools, Jaylani was a young man of many talents and interests. He had a deep passion for bikes, cars, mechanics, landscaping, music and just about anything that allowed him to create, build, and move freely. From an early age, he found his home in the world of bikes. 508 Bike Life was where it all began. Whether he was popping wheelies, building bikes for himself, his brothers, or his friends, Jaylani was in his element when riding. It wasn't just a hobby, it was freedom.
He loved to explore, to be outdoors, and to go on long walks. Nature was his peace and outside was where he thrived. He carried a free spirit, one that couldn't be contained, and he lived life with a vibrancy that was impossible to ignore.
Jaylani had a magnetic personality. He lit up every room he entered with his charm, humor, and boundless energy. You'd often find him dancing, singing, or rapping, spreading joy just by being himself. He was the life of the party, always surrounded by laughter, always leaving people smiling.
While he sometimes wore a tough exterior, those who knew him best understood that it was just his armor. Beneath it was a gentle, generous, and selfless soul. Jaylani had a heart full of love. He'd give his last to help someone he cared about. His legacy is one of loyalty, empathy and compassion. He should always be remembered for the light he carried within him.
Jaylani now joins his beloved late brother, Khamitri Cole, in eternal peace. We take comfort in knowing they are together again.
He is survived by his many siblings: Purvis Cole, Jadah Osias, Izaiah Osias, Khamari Cole, Ja'Marcus Patterson, Sy'Ere Brockington, Nataliana Andrade-Terry, Syrah Woods, and Tomaryan Terry. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews: X'Zaiviah Cole, Aviyanna DaSilva, Khamitri Ryan Cole Jr., Kyrie Ortiz, and Adriana Santos. Jaylani will be deeply missed by his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends and family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
