Throughout her life, Jean demonstrated immeasurable strength and grace, navigating life's challenges with poise and dignity. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and welcome, reflecting her role as a devoted homemaker who took immense pride in caring for her family.
Jean's love story with her late husband, Lloyd, was one of profound partnership and mutual admiration. Though the time apart from him weighed heavily on her, her spirit never wavered, sustained by precious memories and an enduring love. Now, having reunited with Lloyd, Jean finds eternal peace, and her family takes comfort in the thought that they are together once more.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered for her gentle smile, loving nature, and the quiet strength she brought to every room she entered. In mourning her loss, her family and friends celebrate the remarkable woman she was, cherishing the joyful memories and lasting love she bestowed upon them.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Lloyd Burgess, a grandson Robby Dulaney, and a sister, Betty Lou Cooke. Left to cherish Jean's memory are her children, Pamela Dulaney of Colerain and Jeffrey Barnes and wife Libby of Bland, VA, grandsons, Bobby Dulaney, Christopher Allen Barnes; three cherished great grandchildren, and her sister, Ann Beale Dilday.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie, NC with Merritt Taylor officiating.
