On a day of great excitement many years ago, Jeanne and I walked up the road to Palm Avenue with our cameras to get a good look at the rare sight of Mission Peak covered in snow. That photo is on my office wall and I think of Jeanne and the good times we shared every time I look at it.

The first time I met Jeanne is when "Uncle Norman" brought his new bride, "Jeannie", to 1102 Pierce Street in Norfolk to meet the Wright clan. (This was prior to the California name transformation to Norm and Jeanne.) I was 11 years old.
When Norm introduced me to Jeanne I was very nervous, as she was strikingly beautiful, and as I shook her hand I said "I hear you're from out East." She smiled and corrected me saying "It's out West, but Back East." I replied "How can it be back East if I've never been there before?" Even though she was probably thinking who is this smart alecky little kid, she said with that familiar twinkle in her eyes and a very slight smirk "Touché! You and I are going to get along famously." and gave me a big hug.
To me that was the essence of Jeanne. She had a wonderful ability to make people feel welcome. Her joy and excitement for life, combined with her curiosity and intellect made her unique in so many ways.
She is missed

My introduction to Jeanne Wright was at her wedding to my dear cousin Norman. I was a teenager then, experiencing my first wedding as an almost-grown guest. What a beautiful bride, she was! Slender and sweet and happy as a bride should be, I was immediately taken with her and so were my parents. The years went by, and we were seldom in the same place at the same time, so I can´t say that I got to know her well. What I do know is how happy she made Norm, and what a good mom she was to her children. That speaks volumes, and at the end of the day, is the best legacy any of us can leave behind. May God bless you, Jeanne, as you enter heaven, and comfort your grieving family.
