On 27th day of June, 2025, Jeffrey Alan Moore (Jeff) formerly of Arkansas City, KS, passed away at his home in San Antonio, TX. Funeral services will be at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City on Thursday July 3rd, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home & Crematory in Arkansas City on Wednesday July 2nd from 6-8PM.
Jeff was born on December 16, 1957 in Arkansas City to Harry Bruce Moore and Elderra Goswick Hildabrand. Jeff graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1975. On June 23, 1975, he joined the US Army where he was stationed four years at Ft. Riley in Junction City, KS. He was honorably discharged on June 22, 1979.
On January 31, 1976, he married DeeDee Davis in Haysville KS. They made their home in Junction City, KS, while serving in the Army. To this union two daughters were born, Belinda and Alyssa. After being discharged from the Army, they moved to Arkansas City. He attended Cowley County Community College graduating with a degree in Criminal Law Enforcement.
Jeff joined the Army Reserves, completing 26 years before retiring in 2007. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. During his service in the Reserves, he was employed at the Arkansas City Police Department for 30 years. He served in various capacities as patrol officer, patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant, Drug Task Force Officer and Lieutenant Detective. He was a member of the FOP helping each year with the Annual City Fireworks Display. He took on other tasks like the Neighborhood Watch Program and Ident a Kid.
During his time at ACPD, Jeff was called to duty to serve in Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Gulf Wars I and II. During his last tour, he received the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally Meritorious Service while assigned as the company First Sergeant during the time of hostilities in support of Iraqi Freedom.
After retiring from the ACPD, he was employed by the Cowley County Sheriff Office as Captain and later as Undersheriff. He resigned after nine years.
Jeff is survived by his wife, DeeDee, of the home; Belinda Allen (Kevin) of Arkansas City, KS; Alyssa Joseph (Anthony) stationed at Langley AFB in Virginia; brother, Mike Beck, (Patrice) of Desert City CA; sister, Connie Moorehead (John) of Azle TX; and grandkids- Jax, Ayla, Maci and Ady.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Morrow and grandson Keegan Moore
