A Memorial Service for Jeffrey Nelson of Alexandria, formerly of Starbuck will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck with visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be held at the Starbuck V.F.W. beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Jeffrey James Nelson was born on October 17, 1960, in Mankato, Minnesota the son of Duane and LaVile (Grosz) Nelson. He grew up in Richfield, Minnesota and graduated from Richfield High School. He married Julie Petit on October 13, 1984. The couple had three children, Heather, Paris, and Eric, and later divorced.
On February 14, 2019, Jeffrey married Shari Prior. They made their home in Alexandria, Minnesota where they resided at the time of his passing.
Jeffrey worked at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis and in 1991 moved to Starbuck. While living in Starbuck he worked at B&D Rollers, Starbuck Recycling and Starbuck Lumber Yard. Most recently, he drove bus for special needs children in Alexandria.
Jeffrey loved spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren), car rides, coffee with his friends, eating ice cream with anyone who would join him, demo derbies, hunting, park hopping and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.
Jeffrey died Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his home. He was 64 years old.
He is survived by his mother, LaVile Nelson of Richfield; wife, Shari of Alexandria; children, Heather (Maureen Meyers) Nelson of Morris, Paris Nelson of Starbuck and Eric Nelson of Starbuck; step-children, Marley Hoeft of Inver Grove Heights, Chloe Hoeft of Colorado Springs, CO and Cassandra Hoeft of Camas, WA; brothers, Scott Nelson of Richfield, Ronald (Lisa) Nelson of Savage and Steven Nelson of Richfield; great-grandchildren, Kendyl Kelly and MahLoy Nelson; nephews, Cory and Andrew Nelson and former wife, Julie Nelson of Starbuck.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Nelson and grandparents, Erick and Annie Grosz and Marvin and Arline Nelson.
