Ms. Jennie Christine Jordan Dekle, age 69, of Crawfordville, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by all her sons, July 16, 2025. She was born September 1, 1955, in New York City, a daughter of the late Louis Joseph Jordan and Shirley Francis Sears.
Jennie was preceded in death by her cherished siblings Kathleen, Louis, and Amy.
Jennie is survived by her seven sons and their families. Trevor, Russell, Shawn and Odemaris along with her daughter Kinzley, Joseph, Christopher and Sheena along with their daughters Hannah, Hailey, Jennifer, Amy and Kaitlyn, Matthew and Chelsea along with their children Joel and Brileigh, and her baby boy David. She was blessed to love and care for her niece Amy-Christine.
Jennie was from Manhattan, New Year and grew up as a traveler of the world with her father's job. She lived a huge adventure in her early years from meeting famous musicians to having dinner at the White House. In her teens she moved to Crawfordville, Florida with her father and siblings. There she attended Wakulla High School becoming the class president her senior year. She met and married her husband Richard Dekle and soon came her greatest joy, her precious sons, and later her beloved grandchildren.
Jennie dedicated her life to nurturing, protecting, and uplifting children. She was a fierce advocate for every child she met. Throughout her adult life Jennie was a volunteer at the Florida Baptist Children's Home, became a foster parent, and was an advocate for children with disabilities in Wakulla County. She worked at Florida State University School, which became her second home and where her children and grandchildren have attended school. Her devotion to child welfare has touched countless lives and will be felt for generations to come.
In her quiet moments, Jennie could always be found with a book in hand and a cup of coffee nearby. Her greatest moments were spending time with her grandchildren; whether helping with homework, playing board games, doing crafts, or enjoying "nitpicks" (indoor picnics they created together). Even when distance kept them apart, she remained a constant presence in their lives through hours-long video calls and daily messages of love.
She will be greatly missed and in her memory her sons have chosen to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Jennie modeled for us all.
Celebration of life for Mrs. Dekle will be on August 9, 2025, 2-3pm at the St. John Paul Catholic Church in Tallahassee, FL with a reception to follow.
Skip & Trey Young along with Paula and Amanda are assisting the family. Family Funeral Home at Harvey Young Chapel.
