Jeralyn Schulte, age 81 of Lake View, IA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center in Omaha, NE. Jeralyn was born on August 27, 1943, to parents Loyal and Phyllis (Christiansen) Brotherson. She grew up on a farm south of Wall Lake, IA, and attended Wheatland #5 Country School through the fourth grade. Jeralyn graduated with the class of 1961 from Wall Lake High School. She was baptized at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church in rural Breda, IA, in 1948 and confirmed there as well in 1956.
On October 14, 1961, Jeralyn was united in marriage to Eugene Schulte at the United Methodist Church in Lake View. This union was blessed with five children: Renae, Kimberly, Michael, Randall, and Tylor. They made their home and raised their family in Lake View. Jeralyn was blessed to be able to stay home and care for the kids for many years. Once most of them were grown and out of the house, she found various jobs in the community to keep her busy. Jeralyn's favorite, by far, was working as the Activities Director at Mallard View in Carroll, IA. She was such a creative person and this job allowed her to be just that as she planned all of the themed holiday activities and parties, decorated for all of them, etc. She truly loved her job and the residents.
Jeralyn was known to be a giving, kind, and caring person. She volunteered in her community every chance she had. She also thought nothing of caring for the older residents in her community by taking them to appointments, cooking, or simply just visiting with them. Her heart was HUGE. She was a very active member of her church, always making sure to help with any and every event, and taught Sunday School.
Many memories were made on family vacations over the years. This was something the kids especially looked forward to. They took several trips to Branson, MO, one of Jeralyn's favorite places to visit.
In her free time, Jeralyn enjoyed putting together puzzles, gardening and canning, digging into ancestry, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was so proud of them all and especially loved the title 'Grandma and Great-Grandma'. She and Gene enjoyed dancing at Lakewood back in the day. Jeralyn was a big Elvis Presley fan who collected a lot of his memorabilia. She was also known for her huge hat collection that at one time was displayed at the local library. She was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan and quickly learned how to research player stats winning the 'Schulte Family Fantasy Football League' twice yes, she was quite proud of that!
Jeralyn was very close to all of her siblings. They made sure to spend a lot of time together, even as adults. They certainly enjoyed each other's company and always looked forward to getting together. She was especially close to her cousin and 'BFF', LaDonna Miller. Those two were inseparable. She will be missed so much by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children: Renae (Kevin) Schmidt of Lake View, IA, Kim (Tom) Pauley of Denison, IA, Mike (Amy) Schulte of Polk City, IA, Randy (Tammy) Schulte of Douglas, WY, and Tylor (Brett) Schulte of Denison, IA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Stacy (Josh) Pritchard (Josilynn, Addisyn), Heidi (Alex) Koster (Madelinn, Joelle), Kelli (Blake) Reis (Bennett, Truett, Everett), TJ (Maggie) Pauley (Tommy), Spencer (Lauryn) Pauley (Linkin), Scott Schulte, Kate Schulte (Sophia), Lauren Schulte, Jake (Brittany) Schulte (Jasen, Wade), Andy (Taylor) Schulte (Ember, Aiden), Justin (Ashton) Schulte (Owen), Cody Schulte, and Kacie Schulte; brothers Leon Brotherson, Keith (Ilene) Brotherson, and Todd (Debbie) Brotherson; sisters Sandra Roth, Becky (Bob) Rodman, and Starr (Doug) Maasen; sister-in-law Delores Brotherson; cousin and BFF LaDonna Miller; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Jeralyn was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents Loyal and Phyllis; parents-in-law George and Marie Schulte; brother Howard Brotherson; sister-in-law Jolene Brotherson; and brother-in-law Jim Roth.
