Jerry N. McGuirk, 84, of Chetopa, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Oswego Health and Rehab in Oswego.
Jerry Neil McGuirk was born on November 25, 1940, to Claude and Dorothy (Myers) McGuirk in Galena, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School.
For three years, Jerry served in the United States Naval Reserves. Over the years, his work took him to numerous locations, including Hutchinson and El Dorado, Kansas; and Flint Michigan. He retired from at the Acme Foundry in Coffeyville, where he worked as a Core Room helper and forklift operator.
Committed to his Christian faith, he was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chetopa for 30 years.
On December 13, 1971, Jerry and Rita J. Doan were united in marriage in Chetopa. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include:
One son – Jeffrey W. McGuirk (Carolyn) of Spring Hill, Kansas
Three daughters – Angela Sentz (Brooks) of Norfolk, Virginia
Shelly Davis (Wesley Taylor) of Norfolk, Virginia
Evelyn Underwood (Kenneth) of Chetopa, Kansas
Seven grandchildren
Eight great-grandchildren
One brother – Timmy Longer of Sacramento, California
One sister – Cherry M. Haggard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, and one sister.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa, until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in rural Chetopa. Services are under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa.
