Campbell resident Jerry Joe Rutt, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 3rd,2025 at the Kensington, Hastings, Nebraska. Service will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 10:30 a.m. at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Campbell, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl and Pastor C.L. Wimer officiating. Burial with military rites by Willie Fierstein Post #169 and the Marine Honor Guard will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Campbell, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, Campbell, Nebraska and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Westminster United Presbyterian Church or Willie Fierstein Post #169. The service will be live streamed on Campbell Funeral Home's website. Jerry was born on November 3, 1937 in Hastings, Nebraska. He attended Campbell High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines in 1956, serving at Camp Pendleton in California as a maintenance technician.
On March 5, 1960, Jerry married the love of his life, Nadine Betz of Hastings, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Campbell, Nebraska. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Jerry farmed in the Campbell area for over 65 years, taking over the Rutt homestead from his father, Harry Rutt. He had a deep passion for old cars and restored many throughout his life. His pride and joy, was a 1924 Model T, which he restored from the ground up and gave many rides in over the years. Beyond farming and cars, he enjoyed riding snowmobiles, playing cards, golfing and spending time with his friends and family. A true patriot, he served for many years as the commander of the Willie Fierstein American Legion Post #169 in Campbell.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret (Witt) Rutt, and his brother-in-law, Robert Comeau.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine of Hastings; daughters and their spouses, Marjean and Todd Anderson of Broken Bow, Janene and Tony Kolbet of Campbell, and Rhonda and Mike Kolbet of Juniata. His grandchildren include Megan Tucker (Hitch Hitchens), Broc and Annie Tucker, Maddie (Lee) Fritz, Lydia and Marshall Fritz, Mark (Kinsley) Thurston, and Hannah (Austin) Heuertz; brothers and their spouses, Larry and LaDean Rutt, Robert and Jane Rutt; sister, Marge Comeau, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sending prayers and sympathy to the Rutt family on the passing of this wonderful man I considered a friend. I always enjoyed my visits with Joe and Nadine when I would see them over the many years since I've was Blessed to get to know them RIP my friend.
