JERRY L. UHDE
MT. VERNON, INDIANA
Jerry Lee Uhde, 90, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, born to Ralph and Ethel Marie (Rhodes) Uhde on July 26, 1934, in the Hovey area of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in LaGrange, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family.
His family moved to Poseyville, Indiana, soon after his birth, and he graduated from Poseyville High School in 1952 (where he enjoyed deep friendships, sports and music). He married his sweetheart, Elizabeth Jean Giles, affectionately known as "Punky," in 1954, and they built an incredibly rich life full of blessings for an amazing 71 years. His career as the Safety & Environmental Engineer at General Electric spanned several decades, where he managed the safety department until his retirement. Then "Lake Life" proved satisfying for them both, and they enjoyed living on Barkley Lake for a couple of decades before moving back "home" to Mt. Vernon. His family was a constant source of love and comfort throughout his long life.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife: Punky; infant son: Geoffrey; parents-in-law: Othell and Melba Louise (Baker) Giles; sister and brother-in-law: Frank and Judy (Uhde) Alvis; sister and brother-in-law: Jimmy and Deena (Giles) Williams and an infant grandchild: Lacey Elizabeth Uhde.
He is survived by his son: Gregory Uhde (Sherry) of Robards, Kentucky; daughters: Gina Yegerlehner (Keith) of Louisville, Kentucky and Gayla Werry (John) of Poseyville, Indiana; grandchildren: Rachel Dorsey (Caleb); Amanda Dyer (Marcus); Tyler Yegerlehner; Samantha Nieten (Tony); Jordan Newman (Wyatt) and Madison Werry; great-grandchildren: Harrison and Decker Dyer, Clinton, Raegan and James Dorsey, Cora and Blakely Nieten and Sophia Newman along with several loved nephews and niece and their loved ones.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. (Noon), Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana with burial to follow in the Poseyville Cemetery in Poseyville, Indiana at a later date.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time, Friday, July 18, 2025, at the funeral home.
