Jesse Wayne Jones, 73, of Blanket, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025. A graveside service will be held at the Moro Cemetery in Blanket, at 10:00 a.m, Monday, July 21, 2025 with a church service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Early Church of Christ.
Jesse was born in Borger to William Ray and Paula Elva (Carruth) Jones. He graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1970 and married Bertha Morris in 1972. Bertha and he divorced in 1991, but Jesse was blessed with two children from that marriage that he treasured. Jesse was a radio engineer who worked for many radio stations across the state, maintaining and repairing their radio towers. He worked for KBUC from 1988-2005 in Pleasanton, as the station manager, on-air DJ, and broadcast announcer for football and baseball games. Around 2005, Jesse moved home to care for his parents and settled in Blanket, where he remained. Most recently he worked with KJKB, KQMJ and KGNZ, driving out to rebuild their radio systems. Jesse was devoted to his family. He drove hours to all his granddaughters' birthday parties and was always teaching them, from letters for writing practice to pictures of his kitties with math problems. He taught himself Greek and Hebrew to study the Bible and diligently studied scripture. He was very involved in the Early Church of Christ, working with the audio-visual system there.
Jesse is survived by his daughter, Heidi Blancarte and husband Louie of New Braunfels; son, David Jones of College Station; sisters, Louise Moss of Houston and Carla Sheath of Germany; brother, John Raymond Jones of Arizona; his granddaughters Holly, Lily and Ivy Blancarte; and friends and neighbors in the Blanket community.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Jones and Paula Carruth Jones.
