Jimmy Eason Obituary

Elder Jimmy Eason, affectionately known as "Papa," departed this life on April 19, 2025, in Jackson, Missouri, at the age of 61. Born on July 10, 1963, in Cairo, Illinois, Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, minister, and friend whose life was defined by his unwavering faith and generous spirit.

Jimmy was a proud graduate of Meridian High School in Mounds, Illinois. On January 20, 1996, he married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Eason, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Their love and partnership were a blessing to many until Glenda's passing on November 6, 2019. In later years, Jimmy found love again.

A man of deep conviction, Jimmy answered the call to ministry and became a licensed Elder under the leadership of Apostle William Bird Sr. Many years later, he faithfully assisted the pastor of New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, ministering God's word and uplifting others through his faithful service. His passion for sharing the Word of God and serving others made a lasting impact on all who had the blessing of knowing him. He was a tireless worker-both in his calling and in life-always ready to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or share the gospel with those around him.

Jimmy is survived by his three daughters: Nakisha McBride of Columbia, Missouri; Onica Harris (William) of Houston, Texas; and Mareesa Ali of Jackson, Missouri. He was a proud grandfather to ten beloved grandchildren: Emanuel Harris, Jr., Christopher Harris, Majesty Harris, Judah Harris, Khaliyah McBride, Darius Harris, Daija Harris, Xavier Harris, Malachi Ali and Neriyah Ali.

He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Terry, Greg Eason (Gloria), Gina Eason, Latonya Eason, Shannon Eason, Monique Eason, James Eason, and honorary sister Marilyn Perkins-as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who cherished him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James and Ida Mae Eason; his first wife, Glenda Eason; and two brothers, Rickey Williams and Mark Eason.

To know Elder Jimmy Eason was to know kindness, humility, and the deep love of a man devoted to God and family. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy of faith and love will live on in all who knew him.

Memorial Service for Elder Jimmy D. Eason will be held on Saturday May 3, 2025 at Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Illinois at 3:00pm with Minister Gregory Eason, officiating. Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, IL is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at massiefuneralhome.com
