Jimmy Hunt, age 79 of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025. Born in Cleburne County, Alabama, on April 4, 1946, he was the son of the late Joseph William Hunt and the late Addie Buttram Hunt. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Hunt, and a sister, Shirley Browning.
Jimmy and Patricia met in ninth grade, and their love became the foundation of a life well lived. As high school sweethearts, they married in 1965 and spent the next 60 years building a home filled with laughter, faith, and love. Together, they raised two children, and their legacy now lives on in their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jimmy retired as a network technician with BellSouth/AT&T after 35 years. He found joy in woodworking, crafting treasured pieces for his family, each one signed with his name. Jimmy's faith was central to his life. He read his Bible every morning. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, and faithfully served as a deacon and clerk, leaving a spiritual legacy that will endure for generations.
Above all, Jimmy's life was a testimony of faith, love, and kindness. His legacy will be carried forward by all who were blessed to know him.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Weaver Hunt; his children and their spouses, Joey and Tracie Hunt of Buchanan and Dawn and Ricky Henson of Buchanan; his precious grandchildren: Joey & Amber Hunt, Jr, Ashley & Jason Smith, Tyler & Victoria Sweatt, AnnaGrace Henson, Celea Gipson, and Abby & Alex Burke. Also surviving are his sweet great-grandchildren, Nick, Jaylin, Jeremiah, Addie, Ridge, Harrison, River, Ty, Peyton, Braylan, Easton and Charlotte who will be here in August; his beloved sisters and their spouses, Betty and Dennis Gray of Bremen and Judy and Charles Partridge of Bremen; and his loving aunt, Pauline Brown, as well as other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services for Jimmy Hunt will be conducted on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church with Brother Eddie Davidson, Brother Kevin Owens and Tyler Sweatt officiating. Jimmy will be laid to rest in the Fellowship Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Fellowship Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Fellowship Baptist Church from 1:00 until the funeral hour.
