Joan Cappa, 90, of
Hazlet, New Jersey passed away peacefully on her birthday, Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wayne, New Jersey. Joan was born in Newark to her devoted parents, Samuel, and Beatrice (Whalen) Cappa. In 1955 she moved to newly built Coral Woods,
Hazlet, New Jersey with Mae, and Bob Cryan, where she remained until the time of her death. She met and married Louis J. Granato, on July 17, 1988. She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Keyport, New Jersey. She worked as a telephone operator in Newark, New Jersey, and did secretarial work at the Rheingold Brewery as well as Kay Honda in Eatontown, New Jersey. For a number of years, she was the Operational Manager for the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles, Eatontown, New Jersey
Joan will be remembered as OOAK (One of A Kind) and as an Associate with the Dominican Sisters, Caldwell, New Jersey. She was part of the LUMEN Center Spirituality Team in its beginnings, helping to set up its Database for mailings and began the serving of a home cooked meal at each of its workshops. Joan was kind, selfless and always willing to help one feel welcome. She will be missed, loved, and never forgotten.
She is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Louis, and her dear brother Samuel Cappa. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Cappa and her nieces and nephews, Sandra Delllosso and her husband John, Samuel (Sammy) and his wife Geraldine, Gia Heyner and husband Donald, her dear and caring friends, Sr Pat Crowley, OP and Regina Crowley. Most important of all, her four-legged companion, Oliver.
Family and Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM with an 11:30AM Prayer Service at the Shore Point Funeral Home, 3269 State Highway/ Route 35, Hazlet. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey, 07735.
