Joan M. (Denzer) Hoyt, 81, a lifelong resident of Attleboro, died peacefully on July 7, 2025 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Willard I. Hoyt since 1962.
Born in Attleboro on August 26, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Rita A. (Jalbert) Denzer.
Joan graduated from Attleboro High School and worked for Balfour Jewelry in Attleboro for many years.
She was a charter member of the South Attleboro Village Lions Club and an active member for 47 years. Joan was a Past-President and throughout those years she served in several other positions in the club and is presently LCIF Chairman, a position she's held for a few years. Joan was the Massachusetts Lioness Membership Coordinator in District 33S which includes Attleboro to the Cape Cod area. She was a recipient of the Progressive Melvin Jones Award which is given for outstanding humanitarian service in the community.
Joan was a dedicated Lion member, a leader and a mentor to all the members in the club. She will truly be missed by all.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Sharon Eagleson of Coventry, Rhode Island, Deborah Cote of Norton, Christine Hoyt of North Kingstown, Rhode Island and Angela Hoyt of Attleboro, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are private at the request of the family and are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street in Franklin, MA
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund c/o South Attleboro Village Lions, PO Box 3233, South Attleboro, MA 02703 or the Lions Club International Foundation c/o South Attleboro Village Lions, PO Box 3233, South Attleboro, MA 02703.
