Joan DeVee Robertson, 90, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at SBL Fayette County Hospital LTC in Vandalia, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, IL with Pastor Brett Cornelius officiating. Burial will be held privately at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Holy Cross Lutheran Radio Ministry and or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net.
She was born November 14, 1934, in Tilden, NE, the daughter of Carl Herman & Elise Sophia (Petersen) Heggemeyer. She married Lawrence Delmar Robertson on October 2, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden, NE. He passed away on March 13, 2009. Joan attended Tilden High School and graduated in 1952. She then attended the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. After graduating nursing school, she began working as an RN at Fayette County Hospital in 1957. She worked there until she retired in 1994. For the next five years, she worked for Dr. Oder's office in Altamont. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, IL.
She is survived by her son, Gregg Robertson, Vandalia, IL; her granddaughter, who was the light of her life, Katie DeVee Braun & husband, Mike; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lisa Ann Robertson; brothers, Russell, Robert, and one in infancy; and sister, Marguerite Wagner.
