JoAn Sabatini Obituary

JoAn Equi Sabatini, married to Ronnie Magnusson, currently of Oxford and Naples, FL, passed away June 11, 2025 in Florida.
JoAn was born in Woodside, New York on August 16, 1938 to Ruby and Joseph, and stepdaughter of Margaret O'Rourke Equi.
JoAn grew up in Bellerose and graduated from Dominican Commercial High School in Queens, NY and the New York State University, New Paltz with a master's degree in special education. JoAn worked as a Special Education teacher for the Onteora Central School District, NY and for 16 years, was Director of Social Emotional Learning for the Unquowa School, a private school in Fairfield, Connecticut. JoAn was a licensed Professional Counselor and had a private counseling practice in Oxford.
JoAn was previously married to Frank Sabatini and had three children, Chris Sabatini and his wife, Joanne, of Haddonfield, NJ, Terese Sabatini Escoto and her husband, John, of Cheshire and Robert Sabatini and his wife, Kathryn, of Ocean City, NJ. She was stepmother to Martin Magnusson and his wife, Catherine, of West Hartford and Niklas Magnusson and his wife, Johanna, of Provo, Finland. JoAn had nine grandchildren, Meredith Sabatini Tarbell and her husband, Chris, Michelle, Jeffrey, Ryan and Liam Sabatini, and Matthew, Luke, Cole and Leah Escoto; as well as five step grandchildren, Anna, Mia, Cecilia, Harald and Nils Magnusson; three great grandchildren, Benjamin, Reese, and Emma; and her sister Suzanne Bergen.
JoAn's passion was her husband, children and grandchildren. Her special interests were helping people through counselling, religion, spirituality and children with learning disabilities. She loved travelling with her husband, Ronnie, and traveled the world together.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, 23 South Main St., Wallingford. Interment will be private.
